Abstract

This article is devoted to the simulation of a three-level neutral point clamped converter with a selective harmonic elimination pulse-width modulation technique. The main attention was focused on calculation of switching angles using of the Newton-Raphson algorithm for the selective harmonic elimination pulse-width modulation. Solutions of nonlinear equations were obtained for two elimination harmonic cases: 17 and 19; 17, 19, 35 and 37. As an example, the simulation results of phase current and voltage curves and total harmonic distortion at the point of connection to the grid of three three-level neutral point clamped converters with 18-pulse connection circuit are shown. The model allows us to research the electromagnetic compatibility of the three-level neutral point clamped converters with the selective harmonic elimination pulse-width modulation technique based on different multipulse connection circuits to the grid.
