Abstract

Full Text

The paper contribution lies in substantiating the monitoring of individual electric drive equivalent loads (torques or currents) of the upper and lower rolls (UR and LR) at the plate rolling mill horizontal stand under asymmetric rolling. The main asymmetry cause, the inequality of motor speeds, is the formation of bending at the workpiece front end in the shape of a ski. Load asymmetry entails a number of negative consequences, including thermal condition deterioration of the more loaded motor and an increase in electrical energy losses. In this regard, the task of indirect control of the motors thermal state by equivalent currents or torques is relevant. It is advisable to calculate (reconstruct) equivalent parameters from current values recorded at a specified time interval (step) during rolling. To perform such calculations in an automatic mode, an observer of the motor equivalent current has been developed. The principle of constructing the observer is considered and its virtual tuning is performed using Hardware-in-the-Loop Simulation (HIL) modeling. An example of monitoring the motor RMS currents at the 5000 mill stand with subsequent reconstruction of equivalent currents is presented. Oscillograms for 19 passes at two values of speed mismatches (1.5% and 10%) are shown and a multiple difference in equivalent currents is proven. The calculation of power losses in the motor stator circuit is performed, showing that at a speed difference of 1.5%, a reduction in electrical energy losses by 15% is achieved. This confirms the feasibility of developing technical solutions that ensure a reduction in the operating time of the UR and LR with different loads. This is achieved through high-speed load equalization after the completion of the ski formation.
